I purchased the 10,000 btu from BJs back in July when we had the heat wave for a 600 square foot apartment. I have not been disappointed with the performance at all! My best friend had said frigidaire was a good brand because they made refrigerator appliances. Expert of refrigerator appliances manufacturing ac units was a good enough argument to me and I am well pleased. I placed it on the lowest setting and went to bed not knowing how cold this thing really gets. I woke up in my back bedroom freezing. It cools better than central air. So, keep it comfortably set on 69 -70 degreees and its great. And the savings! Let me tell I was worried because I had never used these before. First purchase ever. My electric bill is normally high running central air and I never get this type of cool air without paying a $150 plus monthly but my electric bill was $55. I run my ac unit 24/7. I may switch it at night to fan for a few hours then back to cool. Easy to clean. No dripping from condensation. At 62 degrees (lowest setting) a little dripping from condensation (2-3 tablespoons max). All the dripping it may do is otherwise out the window and I don't notice it at all. It's in my living room window and I don't think its loud. It's a tolerable hum. It does disturb me watching TV, talking on the phone, studying or while I'm sleeping. I prefer it over a portable because it saves space, drains outside and vents fresh air in. The portable leaves a must swell where you have to collect the condensation in a bucket and it is a lot of water that drains from the portable. They don't vent fresh air if you have one hose and take up space.The only disadvantage of my window unit is needing someone to pull it out if we have bad weather (hurricane, tornado). It's been fine to have in the window when it rains. I've bought more insulation than what came with the kit because my window is wider than the expanders. I would like frigidaire to make a u-shape window ac unit like their competitors. I wouldn't purchase their competitors though. My friend had bought a Midea and another brand not a frigidaire and spent more money than me and doesn't get the same quality. His Midea is set for the coolest setting and you can barely tell it's on. The other brand is so loud he doesn't run it. It just sounds like ice peices blowing around. I am so glad for my purchase. I he purchased his after he seen mine. He didn't wait for me to go with him and overspent on below quality brands. I recommend frigidaire to everyone. I bought the warranty too. You have to invest in quality and to get the most out of your purchases. It was well worth it! Thank you Frigidaire!
