Perfect For Off-Grid Solar

I joined the proliferation of off-grid solar electric households. And this refrigerator has G.E.'s 1.2 Amp compressor, which, if your solar system can supply enough power to run, is ideal. Why G.E. doesn't make the compressor's low amperage is beyond me and frankly a HUGE mistake on their part. With more and more people turning to this technology, G.E. Is potentially missing out on a large number of customers. Instead they make it next-to-impossible to learn which of their models incorporates this 1.2 Amp compressor. Call their tech support; they don't know, it's evidently not in their databases, or materials ! Call dealers and stores, including the "big box stores" and they don't know. I challenge G.E. to make that information readily available. After all, in this day-and-age, it's a distinct market advantage for them and at whatever level will up the bottom-line. Oh I understand, industry-wide appliance manufacturers adopted, or accepted the energy standards; you know the yellow stickers showing average annual usage rates. But those figures are based on electricity rate prices that typically don't match-up with where their consumer customers are going to be plugging their refrigerators in. More importantly those numbers do solar power users looking into G.E. refrigerator/freezers no good ! At best they get to make a comparison. Interesting, somewhat helpful, but what is needed is the appliances amperage, which is bafflingly kept hidden. In fact the only way I could discover this model's amperage, a basic electric spec (specification), was by buying one and, when it was delivered, opening up the box to read the inscribed data on the metal tag. How can I go to a store, even a big box store during this COVID epidemic, when the stores DO NOT have any of your models displayed on the floor, so potential solar customers can look inside at the metal plate information. Why G.E. won't make this information readily available to their potential customers (and yes, we are talking revenue for the company at whatever level). It should be a fairly straightforward matter to give the compressor amperage information to all personnel in your technical support department, to addend your specs in at least online product manuals, and to make sure your authorized dealers, including the big box stores have this information to provide.
With that out-of-the-way, the G.E. 16.6 cu. ft. refrigerator / top freezer works just great and, more importantly is easily powered by my off/grid solar electric system. Would recommend it, or any other G.E. refrigerator that uses their 1.2 Amp compressor. Make sure, if G.E. takes a hint and starts to provide that information, to do the calculations, to ensure your system can provide the necessary power, without killing your battery bank.
