Looks are deceiving

Well, the first unit was delivered in October and unfortunately the installer ignored that fact and didn't share with me that the dryer button was loose and almost falling off! Also the dryer would shut off midway through and there seemed to be some type of a short. I called within hours of delivery and because it was purchased at Home Depot, I had to go through a menagerie of different phone numbers to get some help. I was then told I needed to call GE directly. They said they would send out a repair guy and I stated NO, that I wanted a replacement and didn't want to deal with a wiring problem. After 2 calls I finally got them to agree and scheduled a delivery of a new appliance 3 weeks later. So, about a month after the delivery of the second unit, I went to put my clothes into the dryer to discover the washer had not drained. It had been making some very loud and banging sounds for quite a while prior to this, when it would change cycles so I was not totally surprised, but in some of the reviews I read it was a noisy washer, so I figured that was how it was going to be. I wanted to have it at least drain, and turned it to the Drain/ Spin cycle and it would not do anything. About an hour later, the washer did drain but I could not get it to spin so all my clothes were soaked. It would just click as it tried to change cycles. Again, I found myself on the phone calling all the numbers that I had on sticky notes from the prior break down. Home Depot was not helpful BTW, but I did call GE and after 2 calls I had a got a gal named Stephanie that was very empathetic and helpful. She put in a claim for a Review but because it was the New Year week, she said I would not get a call back from her until either Monday or Tuesday. She gave me her direct number if I had any other questions later and she would be the one working with me so I would not need to go all over the place by phone to get help. I was very thankful for her. I am going to push for another replacement. I don't have many options as far as a different unit because my space is so small, so I believe this is all I can fit in there. So, anyway I am hoping to get this resolved and have a unit that works! I love the big capacity of the washer and the dryer, and when it works it does a pretty good job. Looks nice. I will be crossing my fingers! I may write again later to let you know how it was handled. I am hoping I can give a positive report..
