I replaced a GE profile that went out that was 17 years old--I went to the GE website and they said this one replaced it--I ordered it and sure enough it fit like a glove--Has similar control panel but has sensor cooking--I really don't know a lot about this but I am going to do more research--Just installed today and so far so good--looks nice

Works fine, but it came with an AWFUL smell. Over a 2-week period it mostly went away, but really - should a new microwave small like a dead animal when installed? And, the installation crew did a poor job - the entire unit was off-center from the wall-mount oven right under it.

It's surprisingly quiet and heats food well. The only issue we have is with the piece that fits around the microwave - the double sided tape doesn't hold it well so we have to constantly fix it.

On your replay to "sargie" on the cooking rice function, you didn't mention the "Heathy Menu" button. In the manual it states you can cook rice. However the instruction are not the best. Very confusing. When you use the HM button it shows H1, which I suppose means rice. Do I press HM again and the press 4 (4 servings), then start?

No owners manual

So far it functions well . I called about an owners manual 3 weeks ago . My last microwave was 30 years old and still functioned great but it was only 700 watts . I am not sure how to adjust my use to this new higher wattage . I think I will rate it much higher once I can use all the functions

When it is working it is seamless, but then..... The door started hanging up and not opening when you mashed the release button, you had to tap the door up or down on the latch end to get it to open. Then the open/release button popped out and the 2 springs shot out and were very difficult to locate on our wood floors. At intermittent times, the control buttons would not respond. Finally, the open/release button stuck inside the door and the turn table was going around, the door was stuck close, the only thing that was helpful, but weird, was that it was not microwaving, only turning. I popped the door open with a screwdriver. I am going to have this unit replaced with the same microwave, because I believe, and hope, that this is just a fluke, and it does work well when it works.

Not really happy with the fit and finish of this GE. It's supposed to be the current equivalent of the GE it's replacing. The door sags about an 1/8" +- to sit flush when closed. The door open bar isn't quite as resposive and clean as the previous model was, current model hangs up a bit and works best if pressed with at least 2 fingers.

COMPETING WITH MY OLDER GE PROFILE MICRIWAVE

This later model of my. Built in GE Profile Microwave has one selling point that my old one does not. When I click to Ooen the door, it opens! My old micriwave opened 50% of the time. The other 50%, I used a bread knife to coax the door open. Why did I not bring on a repairman when I first noticed the problem, you ask. Actually, I did. He told me that *this is the midel; we can't fix it*. Rather than returning it and starting over, I decided to keep it. I have no regrets. I liked it and still like it. It was and is a good product, all in all. Now, my new GE Profile micriwave has two current problems. When I heat up something/anything, when the time elapses and I open the door to remove the food dish, said dish is not at the front of the microwave. I have to move the large *dish* around manually in order to bring my dish containing food to the front door. This never happened in my old microwave, and jts annoying. Secondly, its noisier than my old microwave. I can live with both problems, but I wish that they didn't exist. As long as I don't have a mechanical problem eith this new micriwave, I can wholeheartedly give it 4 stars. But, I expect that there should be no problems because that would be very annoying.

Poor door latch design. Hard to open

Got this brand new. I had read some people had problems opening the door with the push button latch release. We are one of those. Door gets stuck 90% of time. Have to pull on it while pushing latch. Should have returned but went through warranty repair. Guy came out 5 min. Said need entire new latch assembly. It's on order!!! More to come. Appears to be a defect!!

Finally got one that works!

It took 4 service warranty calls to get the original one deemed as non-repairable. We were assured the replacement one had been redesigned and the door flaw had been fixed. 2 weeks after the replacement install, it is still working as it should. We are hoping it continues to work properly and the door will continue to open. Thank you to GE Customer Service for helping us get this upgraded replacement.

You don't want to hear what I think of the product. It's broken and obviously an extremely poorly designed product if everybody's door is broken and it can't be opened. My GE warranty repairman had to use 2 screwdrivers to pry the door open to access the faceplate to remove the faceplate and remove the appliance to access the interior to diagnose the exact problem. Problem: part 33 latch switch breaks off of part 1205 board latch and part 2010 monitor thinks the door is open and spins the plate and keeps the light on. Biggest problem is since it's warranty, parts must and I say must be ordered from GE directly and that can take over a week. Now schedule the GE certified warranty repair person because they are fixing all these broken microwaves and that's another week. While the light is on and the plate turns and turns and turns. Don't buy this product. My only saving grace is that there wasn't food stuck inside a broken door and couldn't be removed. Food sitting for 2 weeks while wait for repair is considered a Hazmat situation.

Looks great and we love the size. We replaced an older GE profile JES 1540 model which lasted 23 years. I hope it last half that long. I installed it myself using the JX7230DL trim kit and it went great.

rough start out of the box

the unit was installed 8/05/19. it is now 8/12/19 and have been able to cook maybe 4 items. my wife and I have broken finger nails trying to open the door using the very stubborn latch button. one service call has already been made telling us the latch will open better with time. to add insult to injury the oven has now turned itself off for the second time. on the initial call the repairman stated that a sensor fuse had blown. he replaced the fuse and it functioned a couple more times and has again shut down completely. I have read previous reviews and there is certainly a commonality that there is definitely a design problem with the latch. I hope you do us right to protect your brand and provide your loyal customers with the product performance that we have come to expect from GE. our previous Profile oven worked in the same cabinet for 15 years. let's see what the technician has to say this Friday august 16.

Piece of garbage

After just under a year the door latch started having problems. When you push the button sometimes it works, sometimes it won't open. I called the company I purchased it from and they sent out someone to check it out. They said that this model has problems with the latch, send in the repair order request and get back with me. A week later he called to say that the company wouldn't repair it because the part wouldn't be available for 6 months but would send a store credit to where I purchased it so I could have it replaced. Well,, the microwave is installed in a kitchen cabinet and the replacement amount they sent wasn't enough to cover getting it installed, and also the microwave had gone up in price since I bought it. I took the cash back instead and figured I would just live with it for now. One day a few weeks ago it just stopped warming food. I tinkered with the times and power and got it to start working again and it was doing ok until this evening. Now nothing I do works. It barely heats food. I put a frozen breakfast bowl in there and after 2 minutes it was barely defrosted. I tried again 5 times, using the time and temp settings, the one touch 2 minute setting and nothing worked. The food isn't even room temperature after at least 10 minutes in the microwave. As a side note, the GE dishwasher I purchased at the same time had the control panel go out within a few days after I had the latch start messing up on the microwave. Guarantee I won't purchase another GE. (the previous GE microwave and dishwasher I had were purchased at the same time and lasted for over 10 years, obviously their quality isn't anything close to what it has been in the past)

Love this microwave

I was concerned with the reviews that I read, but my whole family LOVES this microwave. The reheat button is fantastic, as are the popcorn and beverage auto settings. We were originally put off by having to push cook time first if we wanted to set seconds other than 30 sec, but have gotten used to that and find we normally use auto settings. The microwave itself is beautiful and feels very high quality, aside from the door button requiring more pressure than we are used to.

The new microwave sits just above our GE oven...matches well...looks great. Its a quality product we use every day.

TERRIBLE DESIGN! TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! The push-button design to open the door is absolutely terrible. I've had the microwave for 5 months, the microwave has been broken for 2 months. When you push the button to open the door, it feels like it is about to break. Then, after a couple of weeks, it breaks. I've already had 6 (six) service visits. The microwave is still broken. DO NOT count on GE service. It is terrible. Customer cervice reps are rude. It is vertually impossible to get in touch with CSS managers. Just DO NOT buy GE microwaves.
